AHIMSA PARMO DHARMA

Subj: AHIMSA PARMO DHARMA
1. Ahimsa means not hurting the week. The full quote is AHIMSA PARAMO DHARMAH, DHARMA HIMSA TATHAIVA CA.
The second part means: "Force in defense of dharma is also noble.''
People leave out the second part.
2. My Take:
Yes, AHIMSA PARMO DHARMA means not hurting the weak. It admonishes us humans, not to kill anybody/any living being.
The second part of AHIMSA PARMO DHARMA principle, DHARMA HIMSA TATHAIVA CA. ( meaning that "Force in defense of dharma is also noble.'' ) that Dr. Rajaram talks about, is seldom cited, let alone practiced by majority of the Hindus, even though in the physical existence of life, it is an issue & outcome of far greater importance. Those of us who are forgetting the second half, are living in their fantasies, and refusing to face the reality of life.
In fact, even with the best of intention, and with all earnestness in the practice of Ahimsa Parmo Dharma, the practitioners of Ahimsa Parmo Dharma, are doing a Half-A** Job.
2. The avoidance of violence, in the face of crime and Adharma, leads to inflation & intensification of Adharma, in the world. Lessons of Ramayana & Mahabharat clearly tell us that:
Rakshishas must be confronted, and that “ Violence is preferable to Cowardice & Inaction. “
Ahimsa Parmo Dharma ( first part only ) in the face of violence & crime, does additional mischiefs. It turns the Rakshishas into testers, to determine how far they can push the Dharma-Followers, and then eventually to slaughter them.
3. To forget or ignore the centuries of Sulla-Brutality & Barbarism, against the Hindu, and not give the Sullas a fitting response, out of fear, diffidence, or Ahimsa, or whatever else, is the most Un-Hindu thing to do. It is the most Un-Vedic procedure to follow for a Hindu. It is not worthy of a Proud or Self-Respecting Hindu.

What is the source of 'dharma himsa tataiva ca"? Where in scriptures does this line occur?
